Covid-19 Service Update 1st June 2020 – Steps Towards Re-opening
With the slow easing of lock down we are planning for the restart of face to face appointments. We have very much missed seeing our patients and know that many have missed us. We also know that others will be continuing to isolate. As we reopen we will of course be following all government and Public Health England (PHE) recommendations.
From June 1st we will have some face to face appointments available and aim to build these up slowly. We will be asking all patients to have their first appointment remotely (via video call or telephone), this is with the aim of reducing contact time. At the first appointment we ask you lots of questions and start assessing and diagnosing the problem, this can be done just as well remotely as it is in clinic. As physios we will be encouraging those who can to continue remotely. We will happily see those who need further assessment or hands on treatment to progress but, will be going through a risk assessment with each patient as to whether this is appropriate for them. We will also be asking all patients whether they have any symptoms of Covid-19.
At the clinic there will be multiple procedures in place to maintain good hygiene and cleaning processes. Wherever possible we will be practising social distancing. We will have a maximum of two physios working at one time – one will be in the studio and one in our largest treatment room – with gaps between patients to allow for minimal crossover and appropriate cleaning time. Physios will be wearing masks, aprons and gloves as recommended by PHE.
