What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes your general lifestyle.
At the core of effective physiotherapy, is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment. You can benefit from physiotherapy at any time in your life.
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through a combination of movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.
Chartered Physiotherapists use their knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with the body’s system including:
- Neuromusculoskeletal (back pain, whiplash associated disorder, sports injuries, arthritis)
- Neurological (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s)
- Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehabilitation after heart attack)
- Respiratory (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis)
What problems can be treated?
Spinal problems such as low back pain, prolapsed discs, degeneration, sciatica, lumbago, stiff/painful neck, whiplash and referred arm and leg pains
Joint problems including arthritis, injury, pain and swelling, stiffness in the joints
Injuries to muscles, ligaments, cartilage and tendons
Sports injuries including treatment and advice on rehabilitation and returning to full fitness
Work-related conditions such as sitting at a desk for prolonged periods or from repetitive movements
Pre and Post surgery including rehabilitation before and/or after orthopaedic surgery (e.g. hip or knee replacements, spinal operations) or general physiotherapy after surgery
Fractures such as treatment to increase the healing rate and gain full function once the bones have healed
Obstetrics including pelvis and back issues, pre and post-natal pilates exercise, relaxation, advice and treatment during pregnancy
Paediatrics for childhood conditions including postural and walking problems

Physiotherapy Fees
The cost of your treatment will vary depending on the nature of the problem. Our rates are very competitive and we will always advise you of any charges prior to your treatment.
Chipping Norton Physio is a recognised provider of physiotherapy treatments by most insurance companies including AXA PPP Healthcare (code ZZ01347), AVIVA and WPA.
If you believe your physiotherapy treatment is covered by your private health insurance, please speak to your provider to obtain an authorisation code that will enable us to invoice them direct for the cost of your treatment.
How to book an appointment
You can contact Chipping Norton Physio directly or you can be referred by your GP, consultant, insurance company or other healthcare professional.
To make an appointment please call 01608 645 608. If it is outside our opening hours, or if we are all busy with clients and can’t pick up, please do leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can send an email to physio@chippingnortonphysio.com.
Opening Hours
Our opening hours are
Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm
There is generally no longer than a 3-day wait for treatment and occasionally an appointment can be available on the same day as requested. We will always do everything possible to see you as soon as possible.
Home visits are also available so please just ask if you would prefer to be treated in your home.

Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is an independent, UK-wide regulatory body responsible for setting and maintaining standards of professional training. To do this, they keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards for training, professional skills, behaviour and health.
Organisation of Physiotherapists in Private Practice (Physio First)
Physio First was launched in 1952 to promote the highest standards of clinical practice in physiotherapy. They help both the general public find highly qualified physiotherapists and to ensure that all practitioners, as members, have full access to training, latest news and continue in their professional development.
Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP)
MACP is a group of over 1000 physiotherapists, who are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. In addition to their undergraduate training they have all undertaken extensive postgraduate study and reached a recognised standard of excellence in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy. Their knowledge and practical skills ensures that all MACP Physiotherapists are able to provide an excellent standard of care in examination, treatment and management for people with neuromusculoskeletal problems.
Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI)
APPI is firmly established as the leading force in the delivery of safe and effective pilates teacher training for physiotherapists and equivalent degree therapists. Established in 1999, the APPI is the only European based pilates institute founded and directed by fully qualified physiotherapists.
Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP)
AACP is a Clinical Interest Group CSP. Its principal aim is the integration of Acupuncture into Physiotherapy Practice for the treatment of pain and systemic illness.
